Dr. Fatima Hussein is a family practice physician who graduated from Howard University College of Medicine in May 1997. With over 20 years of experience in primary care, she has provided comprehensive care to patients of all ages, addressing a wide range of health issues. Throughout her career, Dr. Hussein has worked in various settings, including primary care, urgent care, and academia, and has collaborated extensively with Nurse Practitioners, taking a proactive approach to fostering strong professional relationships.

In her collaboration with Nurse Practitioners, Dr. Hussein emphasizes the importance of open communication, consistency, and adherence to state regulations. This collaborative environment enhances the quality and timeliness of patient care, making a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.

In addition to her collaborative work, Dr. Hussein has developed a particular interest in functional medicine and obesity management. Over the past few years, she has focused on helping patients achieve weight reduction through the use of emerging therapies and medications. Dr. Hussein recognizes the critical role that effective weight management plays in improving overall health, particularly in the context of psychiatry and primary care, where obesity often contributes to or complicates other chronic conditions.

Her expertise spans both psychiatry and primary care, allowing her to approach patient care from a holistic perspective. She is passionate about utilizing evidence-based approaches and the latest advancements in medical treatments to help her patients achieve long-term health goals.

Dr. Hussein has also served as an urgent care physician in various facilities across the Maryland/DC region and as a clinical professor at Georgetown University. In all her roles, she strives to provide well-rounded care while remaining open to new therapeutic possibilities.

When she’s not working, Dr. Hussein enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and hiking.
