Treatment Methods

Class IV Laser

Instant Pain Relief

The Class IV Laser was cleared by the FDA for use in 2003. The laser provides instant joint pain relief. This therapy is a non-invasive laser energy concentrated in a single area from where the pain derives. The purpose of the laser is to create a photochemical response that helps improve function and mobility, as well as reducing pain and inflammation. This will be the first step in our treatment package. This is designed to reduce pain and swelling, while stimulating the damaged tissue.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Decreases Inflammation and Starts Regeneration

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP regenerative injection therapy, has been used since 1987 to help accelerate the recovery process after surgery or injuries, and to decrease inflammation and ultimately pain. Although it was first used during open heart surgery, PRP therapy usage has grown dramatically to include pain management and other conditions over the past several years.

Many athletes have received PRP therapy for various issues and conditions that would have normally been treated with medications or even surgery. PRP regenerative injection therapy can often delay or have potential to eliminate the need for invasive surgical procedures for patients who struggle with a variety of issues. PRP regenerative injection therapy is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment that helps your body heal quicker, regain function, and reduce or potentially eliminate pain.

Regenerative Cell Therapy

Initiates Regeneration

QC Kinetix employs the use of amniotic membrane tissue products that contain many important compounds, including but not limited to cytokines (which block activation of pain receptors), growth factors (responsible for repair and regeneration of tissue), natural hyaluronic acid (an important compound naturally found in the body and joints which provides hydration and lubrication for the area to be treated) and cellular matrix components (support structure). The addition of regenerative cell therapy to your treatment plan maximizes your potential for the very best outcome.

Stem Cell Therapy / BMAC

Aids in Tissue Repair

By accessing and concentrating your own bone marrow, we are able to utilize your own stem cells to help treat the pain of many musculoskeletal conditions, such as osteoarthritis and tendonitis.  Much like PRP and A2M, Bone Marrow Aspiration Concentrate (BMAC) is a therapy in which we are using your body's own ability to help you with your musculoskeletal condition. Your bone marrow mainly has two types of stem cells, hematopoietic (HSCs) and mesenchymal (MSCs). The HSCs are involved with formation of blood cells, but the MSCs are the ones that can help repair connective and joint tissues. In addition to MSCs, BMAC also contains many growth factors and cytokines that are thought to aid in the repair of tissues and help to reduce pain. To get access to your bone marrow, we must do a biopsy, collect a sample of your marrow and then concentrate it down so it has enough of your cells and growth factors to make a clinical difference. The bone marrow biopsy is an out-patient surgical procedure that we do in our office that involves using local anesthetic to minimize the discomfort with the process. We harvest, concentrate and inject your bone marrow all in the same visit. While using your own stem cells is an enticing option in regenerative medicine, not everyone is a good candidate. Age, medical conditions, medications, and over all health all play a role in deciding whether or not using your own stem cells would be the best option for you. At QC Kinetix, we will discuss all of your regenerative medicine options with you and help to guide you to make the best decision for your specific condition and needs.

Degradation of Cartilage

A2M (alpha-2-macroglobulin) is a naturally occurring protein in your blood plasma. It is known to be both a potent anti-inflammatory compound as well as an inhibitor of the enzymes that can break down the proteins (like collagen) in your joint tissues. It is for these reasons that QC Kinetix has A2M as a part of our regenerative therapy protocols. While A2M therapy is new in the regenerative medicine field, we have already had outstanding results with it and are excited to be one of the very few groups in the country that offers it.

Additional Tools to Aid in Treatment

Aids in Proper Diagnosis & Procedural Precision

At QC Kinetix we employ the use of advanced ultrasound to augment both diagnostic information and procedural precision with injections as needed.  While x-rays are helpful to assess bony structures, they may not readily give much information on the soft tissues, like ligaments, muscles and tendons. Ultrasound certainly can aid us in a more precise diagnosis or confirmation of a prior diagnosis.  In addition, ultrasound can be very useful with more precise placement of specific injections.  Ultrasound guidance may not be necessary with every single injection, but it can be very useful in helping you to obtain the best results with certain conditions.  At QC Kinetix, we discuss the utilization of ultrasound for diagnostic and procedural purposes with each patient.

Digital X-Ray*

Aids in Comprehensive Assessment and Protocol Planning

While most patients present to a QC Kinetix office with x-rays or MRI reports already in-hand, occasionally we will need to obtain imaging of the area that you would like for us to address.  X-rays allow us to define bones and their contours more accurately, while MRI scans allow us to define soft tissues like cartilage and tendons more accurately.  Some QC Kinetix locations have digital x-ray equipment on site and if any x-rays are needed, they can be completed at the time of consultation.  Should other imaging be required, you may be referred to a local outpatient imaging center.  It is extremely helpful for you to bring all of your prior imaging reports and/or films with you to your consultation, as this will greatly facilitate your ability to begin care with us as soon as possible.
